Transportation from the Airport
to Haifa:
By
Train: There
is direct train service (1hr 20min, costs 35.5 Israeli Shekels) between
Ben Gurion Airport and Haifa. During weekdays (Sunday - Thursday), the
trains ride twice an hour during the day, and almost every hour during
evening and night. According to
the Israel Railways website, on Saturday the trains ride only in the
late evening (departures at 21:27, 22:27 and 23:25). Please check
the
website of Israeli Railways for the most updated information on the
train's schedule: https://www.rail.co.il/en
Tickets may be purchased from the vendor or the automatic machines at
the entrance to the train station - 50 meters from the arrivals gate at
the same building.
Your destination is Haifa Hof HaKarmel station, which is the first stop
in Haifa. From the train station in Haifa, take a taxi to the Leonardo
hotel, Bay View hotel or the Technion Guest House (taxi ride to the
Technion should cost around 60 Israeli Shekels). Leonardo hotel is in a
distance of 1.3 kilometers from the train station, so walking is
another possibility if you stay at this hotel.
By service Taxi "Amal":
Amal taxi operates a shared taxi service from Ben Gurion Airport to
Haifa (costs 120 Israeli shekels per person). This transport serves up
to 10 passengers per minivan and will leave the airport upon filling
the cabin, so you may experience some waiting time until departure. The
service takes each passenger to her/his own destination, thus possibly
prolonging the trip in Haifa itself, so they can bring you directly to
the hotel or the Technion entrance gate. The ride may take up to 2
hours.
These service taxis depart from the service post outside the main
terminal, located along the sidewalk on the ground floor level (Level
G), next to Gates 01-03. There are signs directing to the post. The
service operates 24/7. Telephone: 04-8662324.
By regular Taxi: There
is a licensed Taxi station outside of the main terminal, located along
the sidewalk on the ground floor level (Level G) at the Gate 03 exit.
The ride to Haifa usually takes between 1 hour 20 minutes
and 1 hour 40 minutes (it depends on the traffic; on Saturday the
traffic is usually light). On Shabbat and early morning of Sunday (the
time from Friday afternoon at ≈17:00 till Sunday morning at ≈5:30),
as well as in the late evenings and early mornings of each weekday
(from ≈21:00 till ≈5:30 the next day), the cost should be approximately
650 Israeli Shekels. For the rest of the time, the price should be
around 530 Israeli Shekels. Taxis operate 24/7.
How to get to Technion:
Conference buses will be arranged, for transportation
between the hotels (Leonardo Plaza/Bay View) and Technion. On the first
day of the conference, a bus will depart at 8:45, from each of the
hotels to Technion. On the rest of the conference days, a bus will
depart at 9:15 from each of the hotels to Technion.
We do not recommend to use public transportation, for moving from the
hotel to Technion and back, since the ride is complicated and long. If
you missed the conference bus, taking a taxi would be more convenient.
If you still prefer the bus over taxi, please see this link for the
bus's time table: http://www.egged.co.il/Eng/
The conference will be held in the Auditorium 232, Amado Bldg. Please

Credit cards & currency exchange:
All major credit cards are accepted in Israel. Most banks,
including those at the airport and on campus, will exchange major
currencies, such as USD and Euro, for Israeli Shekels (NIS). Israeli
Shekels can also be obtained at most Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs),
including the airport and on campus.
