The buses in Tel Aviv follow an efficient network of routes, with many stations scattered throughout the city.
A ticket for a single ride in Tel Aviv costs 5.90 NIS. To ride the bus, you need either to purchase in advance a smart card called "Rav-Kav" or, the more recommanded option:
via an app called "Moovit" that one can download to the smartphone (available on the App Store and Google Play).

Transportation from the Airport to Tel Aviv:

  • By Taxi: there is a licensed Taxi station just outside of the main terminal. It takes about 20-40 minutes (depending on traffic) and costs about 40$ ~150 Israeli Shekels (the night fare is higher). During rush hours (Sunday to Thursday, 7:00-10:00) you might want to consider taking the train.

  • By Train: Ben Gurion Airport train station is located near the arrivals hall of Terminal 3. Your departure station is "Ben-Gurion Airport" and your destination station is "Tel Aviv University". The train takes about 20 minutes from station to station and costs around 15 NIS (~ 4 $). Upon arriving in Tel Aviv, the easiest thing would be to take a taxi from the train station to your hotel; the day fare is about 40-50 Israeli Shekels. Please be advised that the train does not run from Friday afternoon until approx. 20:30 on Saturday night. For more details please see http://www.rail.co.il/en/Stations/Pages/8600.aspx.
