Interactions between Algebra and Dynamics in Symplectic Topology

June 17-21, 2012

Technion, Haifa, Israel

Deep interactions between algebra and dynamics have been a central feature of symplectic topology since its first steps in the 1970-80s: on one hand, Hamiltonian dynamics has been used to study algebraic structures encoding geometric properties of a symplectic manifold and its submanifolds (e.g. various versions of quantum and Lagrangian Floer homology), as well as such basic algebraic objects as the group of symplectomorphisms of the manifold and the Poisson-Lie algebra of functions on the manifold, while, on the other hand, the study of these algebraic structures has produced interesting applications to Hamiltonian dynamics.

The goal of the workshop is to bring together leading researchers working on these developments, broaden their perspective and help them to find out new links between their approaches.

For registration please contact the workshop coordinator, Ms. Eline Zehavi, at cms@math.technion.ac.il.

Unfortunately, at the moment we cannot offer any financial assistance to participants other than the invited speakers.

Organizers:

Michael Entov (Technion), Yaron Ostrover (Tel Aviv University)
