will speak on

A type III1 Bernoulli shift.

Abstract:

Let T be an invertible non-singular transformation of a probability space (X,B,P).
In the case that T has no invariant &sigma-finite measure equivalent to P then T is said to be of type III.
The ratio set of a transformation is a tool introduced by Krieger in the study of orbit equivalence of transformations.
If the ratio set is [0,&infin) then the transformation is said to be of type III1.
In this lecture we will show a construction of a product measure on {0,1}Z under which the full shift is of type III1.
