Bounded trajectories on the space of quadratic differentials.
Abstract:
In joint work with D. Kleinbock, we show that given a
quadratic differential q, the set of angles \theta for which the
Teichmuller geodesic trajectory of e^{i\theta}q is bounded in the moduli
space has full Hausdorff dimension. This result is in analogy with the
abundance of bounded trajectories for a one-parameter diagonalizable
subgroup on a noncompact finite volume homogeneous space.
I will give an introduction to dynamics on the space of quadratic
differentials and discuss the interesting parallels with dynamics on
homogeneous spaces.
