Dynamics of oblique dispersive shock
waves
Abstract:
In this talk, we discuss joint work with Michael Weinstein, as well as work with Gideon Simpson and Sarah Raynor, where local dynamics or nonlinear bound states in Hamiltonian systems are determined by rich but relatively simple dynamical systems, whereas of course the long time dynamics must be studied in the context of dispersive estimates. We introduce some of the interesting local dynamics and discuss the correct spaces in which to do perturbation theory relating to the natural decay spaces associated to solutions of the underlying linear equations.
