| To
each isolated singularity of a complex hypersurface one associates
a smooth compact manifold: the singularity link. This gives the
way to produce manifolds with controlled topology/smooth structure, as
the invariants of this manifold are determined by the singularity
type. In particular in this way Brieskorn produced S^7 with all
the possible smooth structures. I will give a brief introduction to the topic. |
