Title: The Inverse Galois Problem: Results and Strategies.


Abstract: We introduce the inverse Galois problem and
describe several methods for the realization of a finite group
as a Galois group over the rationals. In the end of the talk,
building up on results of Harris and Taylor, we formulate a conjecture
on congruences of regular selfdual automorphic representations
which implies the inverse Galois problem.
