Abstract: We show that arbitrarily small smooth perturbations of the identity map of a ball can lead to arbitrarily complicated dynamics. Namely, we call a map of an n-dimensional ball universal if its iterations provide arbitrarily good approximations to all possible maps of the ball, and show that the universal maps exist arbitrarily close to the identity.
