Multi-scale Matched Filter (MSMF)

An over-complete wavelet transform is applied to the sonar image and to the matched filter.

The over-complete wavelet transform (OWT) (filter banks without down-sampling), is chosen so as to preserve the shift-invariance of the transform.

The matched filtering is performed at each scale in the wavelet domain computing the correlation between the wavelet coefficients of the image and the filter.

Various decision rules are done on all levels to decide whether a mine is detected.
