Rational curves on real algebraic varieties

Abstract

Let X be a smooth projective real algebraic variety. When is it possible to approximate loops in the real locus X(R) by real loci of rational curves on X? In this talk, I will provide a positive answer for a class of varieties that includes cubic hypersurfaces and compactifications of homogeneous spaces under connected linear algebraic groups. This is joint work with Olivier Wittenberg.
