Deutsch Institute Support Page
The Deutsch Institute of Computer Science was founded through the generosity of the Deutsch family
of Buenos Aries, Argentina.
The Deutsch Institute of Computer Science offers graduate students support to attend scientific
conferences at which they present papers, in some cases support will also be given to attend
workshops. Unfortunately, and due to budgetary
constraints, the Deutsch Institute is unable to support student participation at Summer Schools
at this time.
The Deutsch Institute management committee feels that enabling graduate students to
attend international conferences and workshops is perhaps the most significant contribution that
one can make to further the twin goals of research and education.
The bi-annual scientific report of the Deutsch institute, dated
May, 2000, is available online.
The head of the Deutsch institute is by definition the chairperson of the school of Computer Science,
currently held by Prof. Yishai Mansour (ex officio).
Applications for support of the Deutsch Institute are processed by the Deutsch
support committee, currently consisting of
Prof. Amos Fiat (chair) and
Prof. Haim Wolfson.
To apply for support from the Deutsch Institute we ask that you please observe the following:
- Support is given when other sources are unavailable. Specifically, should you be on
a "milga" then the faculty will give you support for one trip. This must be utilized before
you can apply to the Deutsch institute for support.
- Both you and your advisor must fill in the appropriate sections of
the Deutsch Institute Request for Support form which is
available online (Hebrew MS Word document). Alternately, a
hardcopy is
available from the secretary of the department
of Computer Science.
- Please read the instructions and definitions carefully
and fill in the questionnaire as instructed.
- Please don't omit any answers and sign the
form where required.
- For non-standard requests (as defined in the questionnaire) you
will also be requested to attach an explanatory letter.
- If you have any questions, please send e-mail to
fiat@math.tau.ac.il or
wolfson@math.tau.ac.il.
- As explained in the questionnaire, you are also requested to supply an
abstract for the paper or talk.
A Latex template for the
report is available as deutsch.tex. The associated postscript file
is deutsch.ps. Please follow the structure of
deutsch.tex and make use of the Latex macros within,
don't use other non-standard macros, and don't use \ref{}, \cite{}, etc.,
in the abstract. Please make sure that the Latex compiles correctly and attach both the
Latex and the postscript to the e-mail below.
- The one-page hardcopy is to be attached to the "request for support" form.
- The electronic Latex version and the associated postscript are to be sent
to fiat@math.tau.ac.il, (as attachments).
During the period Sept. 2000 - Sept. 2001 Amos Fiat is on sabbatical, send this
mail to wolfson@math.tau.ac.il instead. The subject of the
e-mail should be "Deutsch Institute Support Request".
- The Deutsch Institute support should be acknowledged in a footnote to the title
of the paper/abstract along with any other grants
that support the research.
