Seminar on Galois cohomology and spherical varieties 0366-5092-01

Mikhail Borovoi

Spring 2018

Schedule On: Tuesday 18-20, in: Schreiber 209.

Plan of the seminar:

1. I will give 4-5 talks on group cohomology and Galois cohomology, especially on the first nonabelian group cohomology. For group cohomology the only prerequisite is Algebra B 1 (Group theory). For Galois cohomology I will assume that the participants know what a reductive group is.

2. Eitan Sayag will give a few talks on spherical varieties over the real numbers and p-adic numbers. He will remind what a spherical variety is.

3. I will give a few talks based on my new preprint on equvariant real forms of spherical varieties (assuming that the preprint will be writen by then). This will show how Galois cohomology can be used for explicit calculations.

Concerning the first part of the seminar, the following can be useful:
Homer limud 1.
Homer limud 2.
Homer limud 3
Homer limud 4.
